The FA Community Shield Given New Life.

MANCHESTER UNITED VS MANCHESTER CITY
7th August 2011
Rebirth of the FA Community Shield
For a long time now the Community Shield has just been to us another Emirates Cup or Dublin Super Cup, but this 2011's Community Shield has more pride and prestige. I realise yes, the Community Shield will never have the prestige of the Champions League or the Premier League but now it is more than a Pre-Season friendly which it used always be.

Manchester United's trophy that lead them to this Community Shield

The Premier League Champions Manchester United (18 time FA Community Shield winners) face 'Noisy Neighbours' and F.A Cup winners Manchester City (3 time FA Community Shield winners). Manchester United go into this game with 3 new signings David De Gea, Phil Jones and Ashley Young. Similarly Manchester City go into this game with 3 as well Gael Clichy, Stefan Savic and Sergio Aguero.

Possible Line Ups

With Hernandez a doubt for the fixture we could see a return of last season's top scorer Dimitar Berbatov into the Manchester United side. David De Gea could make his first competitive start for Manchester United and will enter the game with high confidence after his last competitive game being the U-21 European Championship final which he led Spain to a expected win. With want away Carlos Tevez casting doubts over his own future at Manchester City over the Summer I believe Sergio Aguero will be seen by fans for the first time at Manchester City even though he missed their Open Training session this week. Left back Gael Clichy may also make his debut for City.

Prediction
Manchester United 2-1 Manchester City
This highly anticipated Community Shield may not disappoint in any way and I expect a closely fought game with no love lost for either side. A red card for Nigel De Jong is a possibility and I think Aguero may excite City fans by scoring a goal but I think Anderson and Rooney will get United the season's first trophy.
